Rubius "Ruby" Jacob Hughs is the feternal twin brother of Esmerelda "Emerald" Alice Hughs, which he seems to share a form of feternal link that only he feels. As he grew up, Ruby was a neglected child, who's parents paid most of their attention to his gifted twin sister. This neglect caused him to be a rash, violent child who only listened to the one person who showed any love towards him, his sister herself. Though neglected, he did attend the same schools as Emerald, though he had to go through all school years and college while Emerald had long since graduated.

When the war broke loose, he followed Emerald into the army, not wanting to be left behind. Though not as tallented as his sister, he still showed his skills as a pilot. His violent nature caused him not to gain many friends, and many enemies. The most noteably being Joshua Baily, Adam Scott (a fellow squad member), and Brian Fielding. His anger doubled when his sister was showing more attention to her squad leader then to himself. This kind of attention that he did get led some to believe he may care for his sister on another level then as a brother and sister relationship.

He shares a bitter rivalry with Josha Baily, tending to bump heads with the Raven of Phobos at times for fun. Brian teases him and loves to make him seem like a fool in battle, but Ruby gladly takes pop shots in his direction, making it seem as though it was nothing more then friendly fire. He detests Adam for stealing his Gundam, also for the punch he recieved from his fellow pilot after making a statement about their leader dying in battle.

He enjoys proving he's better then most, and welcomes the thrill of battle. His MHV-212 Mesiah Gundam was built for power, then speed, and loves to use weapons that cause a large amount of damage. He would have gladly fought and hoped to destroy the NMS-01 Finrir for the humiliation it caused his sister and her MHV-111 Sithian Gundam, but vows to help her get revenge.
